Drought Stress Responses of Prunus microcarpa C. A. Mey. subsp. tortusa Rootstocks under in vitro Conditions

Background: Prunus microcarpa C.A. Mey. subsp. Tortusa (MK), a wild deciduous plant species, is native to Caucasus and West Asia grows in dry temperate climate zone. The mainly used obtain dark greyish green dye from its leaves it has an economic value due ornamental characteristics. Therefore, this study aimed determine the appropriate Polyethylene Glycol 8000 (PEG) doses for early detection of drought resistance using MK, SL-64, Garnem, Pixy Gis-6 rootstocks.Methods: microshoots each rootstock were planted at end fourth subculture Magenta GA7 vessels containing NRM medium. medium contained 1.0 mg L-1 BA + 0.01 IBA supplemented with 30 g sucrose, gelled 5.5 agar 0, 2, 3 4% PEG (four treatments). cultures kept 23±2 °C temperature under 16 h light (80 μmol m-2 s-1) 8 photoperiod.Result: highest number shoots was recorded control treatment MK (2.81 plant-1) plant-1).
